Department 56 began in 1976 with the introduction of "The Original Snow Village" 1984 saw the beginning of "Dickens Village" series. "Christmas In The City", "North Pole", "New England Village", and "Alpine" have been added to let the collector choose a time and local that best suits their desire to create their own special village!
