1880 - The birth of the first Steiff animal - a felt elephant - intended for use as a pin cushion, quickly becomes a very popular toy with children.
1903 - The birth of the world-famous Teddy Bear. The legendary jointed Steiff "55PB" bear is first presented at the Leipzig spring trade fair and goes on sale for the first time.
Today - Margarete Steiff GMBH has a total of approximately 1,000 employees. The main production center is in Geingen, Germany on the Brenz. The company's guiding priciple "only the best is good enough for our children, friends, and collectors of Steiff animals!" In addition, Steiff "Button in Ear" is one of the best known and oldest trade marks in the world.
